Caroline Adams Miller struggled with bulimia in her teens and even during her career as a swimmer at Harvard. Twenty years later, in full recovery and the author of the first autobiography by a bulimia survivor, “My Name is Caroline,” Caroline returned to the pool as a Masters swimmer and found joy again in her sport. She even had an opportunity to swim again at USMS Nationals Long Course in 2015 and have closure with her Harvard swim coach, Stephanie Walsh, shortly before Walsh passed away. Caroline shares her concerns about the toll that eating disorders are continuing to take on young swimmers, and how many elite athletes have already left swimming because of their eating disorders. Caroline offers her thoughts on what the eating disorder community can offer to the swimming community to help change this dynamic.
